How to grow big spruce trees in minecraft

Spruce – Minecraft Wiki

All existing spruce tree variants

A spruce tree,[1][2] also known as a pine tree,[3][more information needed] grows from a spruce sapling and has growth patterns and requirements similar to birch trees, although they appear different. They are mainly found in the taiga biome, but they may also generate in windswept forests, snowy plains, snowy taiga, and old growth taiga biomes. Spruce logs have the same texture as oak logs, but it is a darker shade of brown; its leaves are denser, with a darker and blueish tone.

Variants[]

There are several different forms of these trees that may grow from any spruce saplings:

  • A regular variant with a height between 5-12. The leaves tend to grow in discrete rows rather than the more spherical arrangement of oaks and birch trees. In Bedrock Edition, only this variant can be grown using saplings.
  • A fairly tall variant of spruce trees that generate in a matchstick style, with only a few leaves at the top.
  • A short variant in which the leaves are arranged in a roughly octahedral shape, similar to a lollipop.
  • A large 2×2 variant that generates in the old growth taiga biomes and can be grown from spruce saplings arranged in a 2×2 square, with or without bone meal. They are commonly called "redwoods" or "mega spruce trees".
    • These spruce trees have few leaves, concentrated at the top. Mega spruce trees with leaves only at the top can be found in old growth pine taiga, but not old growth spruce taiga (which has trees that have a lot of leaves on them).
    • The northwest block of the top layer of the 2×2 mega spruce tree trunk is always taller than the other three blocks.
  • A large 2×2 variant that generates in the old growth spruce taiga biome which has a lot more leaves than the other 2×2 spruce tree. In Bedrock Edition, only this variant can be grown using saplings.
  • A short 1×1 variant that generates on the sides of mountains, that has a few leaves, and appears to be 4-5 blocks tall.

Generation[]

The spruce tree variants spawn naturally in the indicated biomes:

Biome Spruce Mega Spruce Pine Mega Pine
Old Growth Spruce Taiga [BE only]
Old Growth Pine Taiga [BE only]
Snowy Taiga
Snowy Plains
Taiga
Windswept Forest
Grove

The maximum reach of podzol from a single mega spruce tree. Up is north.

In an amplified taiga or old growth taiga, some of the spruce trees generate with snow on them, just like in the other cold biomes.

When mega spruce trees grow, they convert any grass blocks, dirt, mycelium, coarse dirt, rooted dirt and moss blocks‌[Java Edition only][4] up to a radius of 6 blocks to podzol, centered on the south-eastern sapling.

Like birch trees, they do not grow branches. When height-constrained, the trunk height maximum is two less than the roof. The headroom of 9 blocks limits the tree to a trunk height of 7, which enables harvesting from ground level.

Blocks and items[]

These items can be obtained from all variants of spruce, with the exception that saplings cannot be obtained from the pine variant:[verify]

  • Mushrooms‌[Bedrock Edition only] (if present on a fallen log)
  • Spruce Leaves (harvested with shears)
  • Spruce Log (harvested with any tool including hands)
  • Spruce Planks (created from a log in the inventory crafting grid)
  • Spruce Sapling (chance of dropping when breaking leaves, except for pine variant[verify])
  • Stripped Spruce Log (created by using an axe on a log)
  • Vines‌[Bedrock Edition only] (harvested with shears from dying trees)
  • Stick (chance of dropping when breaking leaves)

Planting[]

Spruce saplings may be planted and grown on:

  • Dirt
  • Grass Block
  • Coarse Dirt
  • Podzol
  • Mycelium
  • Rooted Dirt
  • Moss Block
  • Farmland‌[Java Edition only][verify]
  • Mud

In order to grow a 2×2 tree (be it spruce, jungle or dark oak), four saplings must be placed adjacent to each other in a square. For growth to succeed, there must be no blocks adjacent (even diagonally) to the north-western side up to the final height of the tree. Bone meal can be used on any of the saplings. The largest jungle and spruce trees reach 31 blocks tall.

1×1 spruce trees require a 5×5 column of unobstructed space at least 7 blocks above the sapling to grow (8 blocks including the sapling itself). No horizontal clearance is needed at the base of the tree and 1 level above (a sapling planted in a hole 2 blocks deep can still grow).

2×2 spruce trees require a 5×5 column of unobstructed space at least 14 blocks above the saplings to grow (15 blocks including the saplings themselves). This column is centered on the northwestern sapling. A 3×3 area is required at the base of the tree (the level of the saplings).

In Bedrock Edition, giant spruce trees do not grow if the northwest sapling is on farmland.

Other variant spruce trees[]

This feature is exclusive to Bedrock Edition and Education Edition.

In Bedrock and Education editions, trees can generate as one of the two following variants of the normal tree. Both of these generate naturally, and can be grown out of normal saplings.[5][6]

The different dying tree types.

Fallen spruce log.

Dying trees[]

A dying spruce has the standard growth pattern of any other tree, however, all exposed logs in the main trunk are covered with vines.

Fallen spruce trees[]

A fallen spruce may consist of a single upright log, or a stump. Logs lying on their side are often found 1–2 blocks from the stump. They occasionally have mushrooms on top.

A fallen spruce log has a length of 6–10 blocks, and the stump is never covered with vines.

Foliage colors[]

Main article: Tint

Spruce leaves do not follow the foliage color rules that cause the trees to appear in different colors in different biomes. Spruce leaves are always the same color regardless of the biome.

All about Minecraft Spruce Tree and why it doesn't grow

Spruce Trees are trees with dark green leaves that you can find in Minecraft. They look like real world pine trees and sometimes they grow on Podzol instead of regular Dirt.

Podzol on the ground

Some players have difficulties finding and growing them, so today we are going to see how to solve those problems while also, hopefully, learning something new about Spruce Trees.

Where to find Spruce Tree

You can find Spruce Trees in a variety of different Biomes:

  • Grove
  • Old Growth Pine Taiga
  • Old Growth Spruce Taiga
  • Snowy Plains
  • Snowy Taiga
  • Taiga
  • Windswpt Forest

What these biomes have in common is that they all look like cold places that could remind us of Canadian or Scandinavian forests in the real world.

If you are having difficulties finding any of these biomes, you can check the Snow Layer article: there you will find a useful command that you can use to find any biome you want.

Different variants

Spruce Trees come in two different shapes: Spruce and Pine, the second one has all the leaves right at the top.

Here we can see 2 Pines, one on the left and one on the right. All the other trees are Spruce Trees

Both Spruce and Pine Trees also have their own giant version.

A Giant Pine next to a regular Spruce Tree

Giant Spruce Trees have 2×2 trunks and are much taller, up to 31 blocks tall.

How to grow Spruce Trees

Like every other Minecraft tree, if you want to grow a Spruce Tree you can place a Spruce Sapling on a Dirt block. To get Saplings, just break leaves blocks until a Sapling drops from there. Other than Dirt blocks, which is the most common one, you can also plant Spruce Trees on:

  • Coarse Dirt
  • Grass
  • Moss blocks
  • Mycellium
  • Podzol
  • Rooted Dirt

Note that once fully grown, the ground around a Giant Spruce Tree will turn into Podzol.

Once the Sapling is placed, it will need light to grow. It needs a light level of 9, so a simple Torch placed 1 block away will be more than enough (related topic: Torch Spacing in Minecraft).

It will also need space to grow, so make sure that there are no other blocks around where the top of the tree will be in a 6 blocks radius. This needs to be from the bottom up to 12 blocks above. You can place blocks around the Sapling though, like the Torch that we mentioned before, they will not interfer with the grow.

Empty space needed for Spruce Trees to grow

If you want to grow a Giant Spruce Tree, you will need to use 4 Saplings. In this case it will need a 15 blocks radius of empty space from the bottom up to 31 cubes of height.

Also, Giant Spruce Trees don’t grow if there is any adjacent block around the 4 Saplings. So, if you are putting Torches around the Saplings, make sure to leave at least a 1 block gap.

With the 1 block gap, the Saplings will grow with no problem

How to make Saplings grow faster

To speed up the process, you can give Bone Meal to the Sapling (If you want to know more about Bone Meal and how to use it as Dye you can check the All the white blocks in Minecraft article).

You can also make it grow faster by increasing the random tick speed: you’ll have to use the commands and change it from 3 (the default random tick speed) to a higher value.
For example, for setting the speed to 1000, you’ll need to type:

 /gamerule randomTickSpeed 1000.

This method works for making anything grow faster, even animals like Turtles for example. You can also set the Random Tick Speed to 0 to make everything stop from growing. It is one of the 4 ways to freeze time in Minecraft.

Why sometimes Spruce Trees don’t grow

Many players find difficult to grow Spruce Trees. There are a couple of problems that may occur, so let’s see what to do about them.

In Minecraft Bedrock edition, the only way to grow Spruce Trees from Saplings is to make a giant Spruce Tree, with a 2×2 trunk: it is not possible to grow regular Spruce Trees from Saplings. It is not clear why there is this difference with the Java version.

Another reason why it may be not growing is space: sometimes people try to grow Spruce Trees underground. It is totally fine, but in this case it is important to not have the roof too close.

Sometimes instead, players leave blocks around the Sapling. It is fine for regular Spruce Trees, but Giant Spruce Trees need space around their Saplings (as we saw above, 1 block gap is required).

How to craft Spruce Wood

Spruce Logs can be used to craft Spruce Wood, a similar block that shows the same pattern on each of its 6 sides.

You will need to put 4 Spruce Logs in the Crafting Table to obtain 3 Spruce Wood blocks.

How to grow big trees for the house. Trees in Minecraft What can be grown in minecraft

This game is so diverse that it provides a huge space for your own creativity. Here, as in real life, you can grow plants for food, getting paint from them, or just for beauty.

Minecraft, like other online client games, provides full compliance with real life. So, the most useful plant in the game is wheat. Its cultivation requires quite serious efforts and time. The first task is to craft a hoe, thanks to which the wild grass in the territory is then removed and the seeds are collected. The plowed land near the reservoir is used to grow wheat, from which bread and cakes are then baked. It takes days to grow wheat.

What else can be grown and how?

Trees in Minecraft grow for three days. In order to plant them, you should collect the seeds that fall out of the foliage. Items located within a four block radius of a planted tree can interfere with its growth. Grown trees can be cut down if necessary, when the area runs out of trees.

Other plants can be grown in the game:
  1. To grow a cactus, you need to place the appropriate block on the sand. Molten cacti are used for dyes.
  2. Carrots and potatoes must be found in the village. Also, to grow them, you must kill zombies. Found vegetables cannot be eaten, otherwise they will not be able to be planted. When a brown potato head or a red carrot head emerges from the ground, you can harvest.
  3. Sugar cane can be found near a pond and should be planted near the water.
  4. To search for a cocoa tree, you need to go to the jungle, and it is planted, respectively, in the jungle.

Melon and pumpkin seeds are in an abandoned mine. Growing plants are broken, and seeds are collected from them. As with other plants, a bed is made near the water. But flowers to decorate the territory should be looked for on the grass and planted there. Such a variety of activities attract gamers from all over the world, just like in online mmorpg games. The fantasy of product manufacturers is limitless, which satisfies the needs of gamers. The only thing that cannot be grown is cs 1.6. Easier

Trees often grow small and not very pretty. In order to build a beautiful house on the peaks, we must first grow a large tree. Here's how.

A video in Russian that shows how you can grow large trees in Minecraft so that you can then build houses on them. We are talking about the houses on the top, which are shown, for example, in the article - high above the ground, on green foliage, closer to the sky and the sun.

In this video minecrafter Hordor shows his way of growing tall trees. They are not fat, but tall.

How to grow big trees in Minecraft

In general, you can grow very tall trees in Minecraft by simply planting 4 seedlings side by side in a square shape. Spruces grow especially well, they turn out to be gigantic in size. Birches do not grow very willingly, and an ordinary oak grows at an average speed.

How to make thick trees

In Minecraft, you can plant many, many seedlings next to each other - they often sprout side by side. So I grew whole walls or solid thick baobabs (from birch) 10 by 10 blocks in size. Some sprouts in such thick trees, of course, do not germinate, but this is not fatal. A 10 by 10 thick tree is a lot of wood and a ready-made base for a house. Just need to gouge inside the room.

For thick trees, seedlings of different species can be taken. I often made them from birch. It turned out low, but sooooo thick baobabs.

Wheat grows in beds if wheat seeds are planted there. In order for wheat to grow, it is necessary that there is water in no more than 4 cells. Water should be at the same height as the bed. In addition, wheat requires lighting (light from the Sun, torches or lava) to grow.

If you jump on wheat, it will die and the garden bed will turn into plain earth. Therefore, it is recommended to make a glass roof on the garden bed at a height of two blocks. So that you can walk on the bed, but you can’t jump.

If you pour water on unripe wheat, seeds will fall out of it. If you pour water on an already ripe one, then both the seeds and the crop will fall out. This property can be used to create mechanical farms and quickly harvest wheat.

Bone meal can be used to promote wheat growth. On average, it will require from 1 to 3 units of bone meal in order to get ripe wheat from planted seeds.

Wheat can be grown even underground with artificial lighting from lava or torches.

Wheat is mainly used for cooking. You can make bread out of it. This will require only 3 wheat. You can also make a cake that you can bite into pieces. But for this you will need more ingredients (milk, sugar, chicken egg). If you can find cocoa beans, you can make cookies.

Wheat can be used to make hay, which can be used for compact storage of wheat, as a decorative item or for feeding horses and foals. However, for these purposes it is better to use not a sheaf, but directly wheat, because. this will give the best result.

Wheat is also used to lure and breed sheep and cows. If you give wheat to two sheep or two cows, hearts will appear above them, and soon a lamb or calf will appear.

Wheat is also called: Wheat.

Wheat is present in Minecraft versions: 1.8.2, 1.8.1, 1.8, 1.7.10, 1.7.9, 1.7.5, 1.6.4, 1.5.2.

Tricks and secrets

  • Why do you need a lot of wheat?
Don't forget to grow as much wheat as possible. it can be exchanged for emeralds in the village.
  • An important fact about wheat
A lot of wheat will be needed to raise cows, which are needed to obtain leather for bookcases.

Without wood, you won't be able to make tools and weapons, which means you won't be able to get anything and protect yourself from hostile mobs. Trees are generated in random places on the map, when cutting a tree, leaves fall out, from which, in turn, seedlings and apples sometimes fall out, planting a seedling in the ground, after a while you will get a new tree. For example, by cutting down 10 trees completely (including leaves) you will get a much larger number of seedlings, by planting them, you will get new trees, if you cut them down again, the number of seedlings will become even larger, so you can get a huge forest.

How to chop wood in Minecraft?

If you have an ax, then take it, if you don't have an ax, then you can even chop a tree with your bare hands, only it will take much more time. Come close to the tree and hold down the left mouse button on the part of the tree that needs to be cut down, after a few hits the tree block will be cut down. You can collect foliage only with scissors, to use the leaves as a decoration, you need to put a block of wood under them.

How to grow a tree in Minecraft?

Seedlings sometimes fall out after the leaves of the tree fall out. Pick up a sapling and plant it in the ground with the right mouse button, after a while the tree will grow. Tree growth time is chosen randomly. A tree will grow if there is light and enough space nearby, if a seedling is sprinkled with bone meal, it will sprout instantly, provided there is light and free space, with the same conditions you can grow trees indoors and in hell. The height of the tree is from 5 to 16 blocks. The "big tree", which is also called the "mutant tree", can be obtained by planting trees on trees, for this, put a block of earth on top of the tree and plant a seedling in it, when the tree sprouts, repeat the same for the second floor.

Why is the tree not cut down?

Sometimes a situation arises when a tree is not cut, here are the most common reasons:

1. You did not hold down the mouse button, but click it, then the tree in Minecraft will not be cut.
2. The territory is protected by private, in this case the usually felled block reappears and a red warning message appears. Move on to find trees with no privacy protection.
3. If the Lumberjack plugin is installed on the Minecraft server, it may seem that the tree is not being cut, although in fact it is not. In this case, the tree is cut, but not necessarily where you cut it. If this is a single tree, then it is cut from above, if there are several trees nearby, then other trees can be cut. Chop one place until it is cut down, then you can collect a large amount of wood.

Wood is one of the most important building resources in Minecraft. Although it is very easy to get it, large-scale construction projects cannot do without large reserves or your own farms. And on public servers, you can generally appear on the ground without any resources. in Minecraft on your own? The answer to this question will be given below.

What do you need?

Before you grow a tree in Minecraft, you will need its seedlings. There is a 5% chance that you can get them when collecting leaves in treetops. Therefore, you cannot do without wild plants, even in small quantities. When playing on your own server, it's easier to switch to creative mode than once again wag your nerves in search of vegetation in the tundra.

If you want to build a "farm" of trees, you might also need torches and some planks. But first things first.

Farm

How to grow a tree in Minecraft? The easiest way to start wood production is to build a farm. To do this, you will need several sprouts of a certain breed. Oak is ideal. It gives a lot of wood, has a high crown, and sometimes you can get apples from the crown.

Mark out plot 9 to create a trussfor 9 cells. Plant a seedling in each corner. Also do this in the center cells. In total, you will get 9 seedlings. Just by waiting a while, you can chop wood.

In some cases, at a height of 10 blocks, you can build a ceiling from any solid materials. Then the tree trunk will be only 7 units high, and it will be possible to completely cut it down, standing right on the ground. However, remember that the ceiling will provide shade, and the plant needs a lot of light to grow.

Another way to grow a few trees for easy gathering is to use torches. Loose and grassy blocks are known to burn out when they fall on a torch. In this way, you can place several torches on your plot so that they burn the growing branches. On the one hand, this will facilitate the collection of wood from trunks, on the other hand, it will reduce the number of sprouts harvested from tree crowns. Also, this method will require a little more space for growing, since torches will be perceived as an object that interferes with growth, and they must be placed at least 2 cells away from the trunk.

Giants

What else do you need to know? Some woods can grow into gigantic trees of incomprehensible height, giving you an almost endless supply of materials. How to grow a big tree in Minecraft?

  • To do this, plant 4 sprouts side by side, without separating them with soil or buildings.
  • Provide enough space above the plant.
  • Leave at least 3 free blocks on the side of the trunk.
  • Use sprouts from one plant - spruce or tropical tree.

Dark oak is worth a special mention. This tree itself grows to a huge size, but also requires 4 seedlings to plant, as is the case with giants.

Acceleration

The last thing you need to know is how to quickly grow a tree in Minecraft. Growth acceleration is one of the most significant processes. In general, the player has two options.

  1. Wait. Just go to bed and time will automatically rewind. Unfortunately, this option is not suitable for public servers, since all players online must go to bed.
  2. Use 2 to 10 bone meal on the sprout, which can be made from skeletal bones.

This way you don't have to build entire farms to produce trees. You will receive everything you need when cutting right on the spot and at night when hunting. The only problem may be the extraction of ashes. Skeletons, although they are quite common monsters, but their ranged attack causes a lot of problems. Use a shield to counter them. In close combat, bouncing arrows can also hurt your opponent.

In "Minecraft" there are a large number of types of food, which can be both found in finished form, and cooked, and most importantly, grown. Everyone can try themselves as a farmer, because growing food is the most efficient, optimal and reliable way to ensure food supplies. Of course, this does not mean that you have to pass apples or any other edible objects, but you will always know that you have enough food at home. However, what is the best way to grow? In Minecraft, there are various types of seeds from which excellent yields are obtained, but the basis of all farming is wheat. It is with it that it is better to start your farming activity, especially if you want to switch to animal husbandry later, then you will need a lot of wheat to feed the animals. So, it's time to learn how to plant wheat in Minecraft.

Search for seeds

Naturally, no one will provide you with ready-made seeds, so you will have to look for them yourself. This is not the most difficult task, so you can deal with it pretty quickly. The main thing is to know exactly where to look. You will not need a permanent location of wheat seeds, since you will have the opportunity to get them from your crop, so this step in the whole question of how to plant wheat in Minecraft takes relatively little time. You just need to walk around the grassy meadows and look in the grass for seeds that will be visible even to the naked eye. It is better to collect as many of them as possible, because the more seeds, the richer the harvest. Once you have enough seeds, you can move on to the next step. How to plant wheat in Minecraft without tools? This is absolutely impossible, so you need to craft.

Required tools

Of course, there is a high chance that by the time you decide to grow wheat, you already have all the necessary tools. Therefore, it is worthwhile first of all to designate what is needed to resolve the issue of how to plant wheat in Minecraft. So, you will need a shovel, a hoe and a bucket. If we talk about resources, then in total you will need only four sticks and six metal ingots to craft all three items. If you already have them, then you have nothing to worry about - you can immediately proceed to the preparation of fertile soil. It's time to answer the main question of a novice farmer in the Minecraft game: "How to plant wheat seeds?"

Preparing the soil and planting

The first thing you need to do is find a fairly large piece of flat land. It needs to be ten or fifteen blocks long and wide, depending on how big you plan the field. To learn how to grow wheat in Minecraft, you will need to plant it first, so dig a strip 10-15 blocks long with a shovel, and then fill it with water from a bucket. The irrigation system is ready, now it's time to work the land around your moat with a hoe. So in the end yours will look like in the Minecraft game. Wheat seeds you need to throw directly into the cultivated land - that's all that is required of you.

Harvest

Some time after sowing, the wheat will begin to grow and then finally mature. Then you will need to harvest in order to be able to use the results of your labor. From one block of wheat, you get two types of resources at once. First of all, it is the wheat itself, which can be given to animals or turned into bread in ovens. But besides it, you also get new seeds that you can immediately sow in your field. Each block of wheat provides you with one to two units of wheat and one to three units of seeds, which is very beneficial, as you will be able to constantly expand your field if you so desire.

Important features of growing wheat

This is only basic knowledge, which may not be enough to grow a full-fledged wheat crop. For example, you may encounter such a problem: you plant wheat seeds in the ground, come in the morning, and they lie on the ground again. The problem here is that wheat needs light to grow and there is none at night, so the seeds stop growing. This problem is solved very simply - you only need to install a certain number of torches throughout the field so that all blocks are illuminated, and then the wheat will ripen quietly. There is also the problem that seedlings are very easily destroyed. Try to walk across a plowed field a couple of times and you will notice that it has turned into ordinary land. And if you do not walk around your field, then other animals and mobs may well do this. So a mandatory attribute of a wheat field is a solid fence around the entire perimeter. Well, a little tip that will allow you to grow wheat instantly - you can fertilize the planted seeds with bone meal obtained from the bones of skeletons - and the wheat will ripen at the same time.

Easier
