How to make a palm tree out of plastic bottles
Decor
If you don't know how to make a palm tree out of plastic bottles, then we'll show you. You may have admired the neighboring installations made of plastic bottles more than once: there are various animals and a sprawling green palm tree. In fact, it is not so difficult to implement it. If you are not new to needlework, love to experiment and can get a few plastic bottles - you can easily transform your site without spending a lot.
For the stem you will need brownish plastic - this is what kvass is usually sold in, and for the leaves - green, from carbonated drinks. But, depending on your imagination, the tree can be transparent, and blue, and red.
The size of the bottles found will affect the splendor of the crown, but this does not mean that you need to get a huge container for the cooler somewhere. One and a half or two liters are ideal for neat, and moderately sprawling foliage. They do not have to be the same - a slight difference in the length of the leaves will not affect the appearance of the product. Do not throw away corks either: they are useful for decorating flower beds or creating an original mosaic on the fence; you can put them in the decoration of the trunk of your palm tree.
In addition, a piece of rigid cable is required for the trunk of a palm tree, with a diameter slightly smaller than bottle necks. Two metal rods, up to 25 cm high, and two metal pipes that serve as the basis for the tree. They will have to drill holes for the cable. Rectangular stable stand with an area of approximately 60x40 cm and a thickness of more than 5 mm.

How to make palm leaves from plastic bottles
Take green bottles and cut them in half. Cut the upper part, leaving the whole neck (about 2-3 cm from the lid), into many narrow strips. The thinner they are, the more they will turn out on each sheet and the more magnificent the crown will come out.
String blanks on the cable. Insert the resulting leaves into the holes drilled in the metal tube.
How to make a stem for a palm tree out of plastic bottles
- Now cut off the bottoms of the brown bottles (there is usually a clear outline where you need to cut off).
- Then cut out small triangular pieces to a height of about 2-3 pieces and turn inside out.
When folded back, these petals will give the impression of scaly growths on the trunks of real palms.
- The number of cut bottoms depends on the planned height of the structure.
- Using the cone principle, thread the resulting parts with a neck onto the base. Each part should sit on the previous one with a slight shift. Fix the elements.
How to connect the individual parts of a palm tree from a plastic bottle
The last step in how to make a palm tree from plastic bottles is to connect all its parts together. What you need for this:
- Weld two metal rods to a rectangular base (or drill holes in it with a drill). Put metal pipes on the rods - the bases of the tree.
- Weld 6-7 more pieces of metal to the top of the pipes. The design will resemble a revolver drum. You assembled the bottles that form the trunk onto pipes, and cables with leaves are inserted into the holes of the upper parts (revolver). Bend the wires for fastening inside pipes and inside bottlenecks.
- Bury the palm tree about 30-40 cm into the ground to hide the unprepossessing lower part and fix the product more firmly.
If you don't have an adjacent plot, but you would like such a thing in your apartment, then the steps are slightly different:
- Cut off brown bottles by a third from the neck, make 8 petals on each part (2-3 cm before reaching the neck), bend them back. If there are few bottles, use the second halves as well. But then they will have to punch the same hole as the neck with a hot knife.
- For leaves from a one and a half liter bottle, cut off the bottom, divide the side part into thirds, without affecting the neck. Round at the end and make it narrower at the neck to make a plastic petal. Cut both edges into strips, leaving the whole middle, one and a half cm wide. Bend each strip up and down to achieve foliage splendor.
- Assemble in the same way as the outdoor version, but the stand can be made smaller and lighter.

How to make a palm tree from plastic bottles with your own hands in stages? Photo and video
As you know, plastic is a material that nature spends more than one hundred years to dispose of. Making a palm tree out of plastic bottles is an opportunity to get rid of a large amount of plastic containers that have accumulated in the country. This is especially true in the summer, when a lot of various liquids are drunk from plastic containers. Can you make a tree yourself?

Materials and tools
To make a “handmade” craft - palm trees from plastic bottles, you do not need to spend money on material. A tree is made from improvised materials. What will take a lot is time and patience - depending on what size green tree you decide to create. For crafts you will need:
- Green and brown plastic bottles. You can also use transparent containers, but the palm bottles will have to be painted;
- Knife from the stationery category - they are very convenient to work with;
- Metal pin or polypropylene tube for making a palm stem;
- Scotch;
- Metal rod or thin gimp wire for making foliage;
- Paper and additional decoration.
The process of creating
Making a palm tree with your own hands is not difficult. First you need to complete the blanks of foliage for the future green tree, and then assemble them into a single craft.
First of all, plastic bottles for the future palm tree must be washed well and the labels removed from them, otherwise they will greatly spoil the appearance of the tree. You can start making blanks for the crown and trunk of a palm tree from bottles - see the video for crafts below: If the green foliage bottles are different sizes, then sort them into groups. Each group of bottles will subsequently become the top green foliage of the tree crown. Watch the video and memorize the step-by-step instructions for making medium height palm foliage from plastic bottles:
- Take a knife and cut plastic bottles into two halves. But the bottom half of the bottle should be slightly larger than the top;
- Next, each half of the bottle is cut into lengthwise strips. You can use a knife for this. The width of each longitudinal strip is approximately 1.
5-2 cm. This will be the foliage of the future upper crown of the tree from plastic bottles;
- Foliage of a tree from improvised materials must be collected into palm branches. This will require a thin metal rod of small diameter. We make a hole in the cork from a plastic bottle, string the cork on the wire and fix it;
- The upper half of the bottle with the neck is screwed onto the cap, followed by the second half with the bottom. In this sequence, all blanks for palm foliage are strung. The last upper leaf blank from the bottle is also fixed with a lid at the base of the craft.
By the same principle, we collect other foliage branches for the crown of the tree. If there are not enough blanks of tree foliage, then you can additionally make it out of paper and fix it on adhesive tape. You can also add some kind of decoration for the foliage of a cardboard tree by gluing it on glue or tape.
This is one of the alternatives to making your own palm tree foliage from plastic bottles in the country. There are other options for how to cut bottles to create palm foliage.
Barrel
Original hand made master class on making medium height brown barrel from bottles. The basis of the palm tree trunk will be a metal or polypropylene tube - half a meter longer than the trunk, to dig into the ground. The diameter of the pipe should allow it to be inserted into the neck of a brown plastic bottle. Step by step:
- Brown plastic bottles are required for the barrel. If there are few of them, then a pair of inserts can be made from brown cardboard;
- Using a knife, cut off the bottom in the shape of a flower;
- Now we make longitudinal cuts with a knife towards the neck of the brown bottle, as if cutting off the flower petals that turned out after the bottom was cut off on the plastic bottle. Too narrow half must be cut off with a knife;
- Bottles cut with a knife are strung one on top of the other. The petals cut longitudinally with a knife diverge, and a pattern is obtained that resembles the trunk of a real banana palm.
